Willow Point: Historic Hunting Heaven

We recently finished up a website for Willow Point Island, a historic island in the Mississippi River twelve miles northwest of Vicksburg. Willow Point, though noted for its unparalleled beauty, significant natural resources, and quality wildlife management, is best known for its world-class whitetail deer hunting. Recently the island went up for sale, and we designed and implemented the site to show off the amenties and natural beauty of the island.

The Mississippi Festival is an area non-profit organization that brings world-class performers to community events. These performances are often free, and they always help to enrich Mississippi communities with greater opportunities for the arts. Let’s Salsa, Mississippi!

We recently completed a really fun logo & website project for Salsa Mississippi, a Latin dance club in Fondren. They recently opened a brand new location on Duling Street. It was great to work with this fantastic group of dancers.

Salsa Mississippi offers daily dancing lessons and Zumba classes. And if you're ever in Fondren on a Friday or Saturday night, their Latin dance parties are not to be missed!

The Governor’s Awards: Annual Mississippi Tradition

For years now, Imaginary Company has designed posters for the annual Governor's Awards for Excellence in the Arts. Held in Jackson each year, these awards celebrate Mississippi's long legacy of artistic achievement, and they honor individuals who have gone above and beyond in their pursuit of excellence and artistry.

Each year, the poster and other materials feature a different photo commemorating an individual or location with significant to the arts in Mississippi. Each image was shot by photographer Tom Joynt.

The 2009 poster features an image of B.B. King, our great blues artist.

In 2010, the poster celebrated the newly-opened Ohr-O'Keefe Museum of Art, representing Mississippi Gulf Coast culture and artistic growth.

This year's poster features a photo of the Lyric, a movie theatre in Tupelo, Mississippi. This building has survived nearly one hundred years, and it is now home to the Tupelo Community Theatre. Reportedly, the balcony of the Lyric was where Elvis stole his first kiss.

This year's Governor's Awards ceremony will be held on Thursday, February 24, 2011 in the auditorium at the Mississippi Department of Education in downtown Jackson.

It's time to change the channel to Christmas!

It used to be you knew Christmas was coming the first time you saw the TV commercials with "Norelco Santa" sliding down the hill and the Budweiser Clydesdales marching past. Everyone was in the Christmas spirit after the Sears & Roebuck catalog arrived in the mail with all the latest toys. Some of the old television spots seem timeless now, some ironic. Now, years later, "Mystery Date" has been replaced by Match.com, "Lucky Strike" has made a comeback thanks to the vintage ad agency drama series Mad Men. And who wouldnt still "like to buy the world a Coke" and do the Charlie Brown Christmas dance?"

Live Well With Pinnacle Trust

This, year we completed a website and several ads for Pinnacle Trust, a local wealth management instituation. Led by CEO Stacey Wall, Pinnacle Trust understands the complexities of modern investing. Their experienced financial planners help clients acheive their goals and live well with financial security.

The following ad features four football players who played on a legendary team at Ole Miss in 1961. All four of them are clients of Pinnacle Trust.

We are very proud of the design and coding work on the Pinnacle Trust website. Their strength as a financial institution and the personal nature of the business practices are evident. The website conveys their expertise and their priorities. "We recognize the uniqueness of each client’s situation, and we tailor our efforts to you. At Pinnacle, your priorities are our priorities, and your peace of mind is our ultimate goal."

Giving Back at Thanksgiving

As the holiday season begins, we're mindful here at Imaginary of those less fortunate. Recently we were privileged to provide design, publicity, and web work for the newly-created Runnels Foundation. The primary focus of the foundation is Operation Bloom. In Mississippi, the odds of a woman dying from breast cancer are higher than in many other states. Many women find themselves under-insured and without access to needed care. Operation Bloom seeks to defeat the statistics by providing free breast exams to women without proper health care. Operation Bloom empowers women to take control of their wellbeing and maintain healthy lives.

Operation Bloom's first event took place at the Jackson Convention Complex on October 16. More events around the state are planned for 2011.

These ads appeared in local publications and were posted around town.

This outdoor display was featured at the Jackson Convention Complex in the days leading up to the event.

The event was staffed by this fantastic group of volunteers.

Lego Creation

Check out this incredible creation we found. This fully operational "Sharpie printer" was built entirely out of Legos. We didn't invent it, but we wish we owned it.

In other news, the holidays are almost here, and things are happening here at Imaginary Company. We are wrapping up the year with a lot of great expectations for 2011. You can expect more great work to appear on this blog as well as throughout the state.

What better way to celebrate Halloween than with a discount on Halloween masks? The Runnels Center ran this ad, designed by Imaginary, in several local publications as well as on a billboard. SKIN is the Runnels Center's home for skin care and spa services. They offer everything from spa treatments, facials, body treatment, chemical peels, and other custom cosmetic services. Skin cancer screenings and mole removal are also available. It's a relaxing place where you can do something for yourself.

And we're pretty proud of their advertising.

Teamwork Tuesday

It's Tuesday, and this afternoon we had an impromptu photo session. One of the best aspects of working at Imaginary is the atmosphere of teamwork we have here. We work hard, collaborate on projects, get things done, meet deadlines, and manage to actually remain friends.

Vidal and Rebecca discovered this mug and bought it for our web-dev Mason, who uses CSS every day. He does think it is awesome.

Everybody is an Artist

Imaginary collaborated with the Jackson Arts Council to produce these stunning posters. Featuring local artists, craftsmen, and entertainers, these nearly life-size images were unveiled at the Storyteller's Ball and remain installed in the Mississippi Arts Center.

The arts have always had a unique energy here in Jackson, but they are continuing to gain momentum as Jackson experiences a cultural revitalization. "Everybody is an artist" celebrates the particular contributions of sixteen of Jackson's best. We're proud of these folks; they help make this community great.

Eastover: An Urban Oasis

Recently, we were commissioned to design and code a website for Eastover, one of Jackson's most beautiful and outstanding neighborhoods. With its stunning homes, lush gardens, and beautiful lakes, Eastover is a gorgeous oasis within urban Jackson.

The Greater Eastover Neighborhood Foundation and Eastover Neighborhood Association teamed up to produce some fantastic content announcing new projects, explaining Eastover's history, and updating residents on security and upcoming events. In addition to a website, we produced an email newsletter template for the neighborhood. The template has the same styling as the website, and it will be put to good use keeping neighborhood residents informed.

The Storyteller’s Ball: A Smashing Success

The Storyteller's Ball was a blast for all who attended. The event was attended by Jackson's finest, and the evening was enhanced by fantastic music and delicious food. Vidal, our creative director, sold a painting in the art auction, and Mason and Katie, web developer and copywriter respectively, purchased art at the auction.

The Jackson Arts Council did a great job with this event, and they continue to work to make Jackson a place where the arts are supported and cherished.

Life is a Cabaret

The Greater Jackson Arts Council has distributed more than $3.5 million in grants supporting local arts endeavors. They tirelessly support community efforts to make Jackson a haven for cultural opportunities.

Each year, the Arts Council hosts the Storytellers Ball, a fabulous event featuring dancing, music, and both live and silent auctions. This year, "Life is a Cabaret" will feature motown music, a martini bar and optional black tie attire. This is your chance to support the Arts Council, have a great time, and potentially win $5,000 in the evening's drawdown.

Imaginary designed the poster and advertisements, which can be seen in businesses throughout the Jackson area and in local publications.

Advance tickets are $50 for the event, to be held at 6:30pm on Thursday, August 12. Don't miss this entertaining evening!
